The Society of Port Engineers, Los Angeles/Long Beach is a professional organization whose objective is to maintain an open forum for the discussion of issues affecting the maritime industry and to provide scholarships to California Maritime Academy cadets. Its members are professionals involved in the waterfront industry such as port engineers, marine engineers, shipyard personnel, subcontractors, suppliers and various others who serve the maritime industry.

Established in 1946, the Society meets once a month in the evening for a technical presentation, dinner and social hour. The Annual Picnic, usually held at the Redondo Beach Seaside Lagoon in October, is always the highlight of the year, with an attendance of about 1,000 people. The Society also has an Annual Golf Tournament, also a favorite event. The Society also supports the Maritime Christmas Ball which is a favorite holiday event. The money generated from these events is used to provide scholarships to deserving students attending the California Maritime Academy.

Additionally, a Membership and Services Directory is published annually.
This directory includes the name, company affiliation, address, and telephone number of all current members.

If you are working in, or associated with, the maritime industry in the Los Angeles/Long Beach harbors, we invite you to attend one of our meetings.
A downloadable membership application is located below.
